Myth
Configured in the mystery of a Gothic space, the central figure reaches for reason, as symbolized by the suspended vessel. At the same moment there is a realization that knowledge may already lie intuitively within.
The vessel is located at golden section, 1.618, as persistence of reason. Knowledge, however, is valid whether objective or intuitive. The lotuses at column tops symbolize a manifestation of consciousness and as such are parameters within which knowledge emerges. The hippopotamus symbolizes emotion and spirit-connection. Its huge presence balances the power of reason as concentrated in the vessel. The geometric floor tiles contain an impetus from which the central figure’s organic robe emerges. The Scarab (dung) beetle is a symbol of resurrection. Its life is a constant rolling, a never-ending becoming. The levitating figure reflects the possibility that ecstasy at the level of pure consciousness releases the bondage of gravity.
“I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons,
knocking on a door.
It opens.
I’ve been knocking from the inside.”
